Formation and First Sparks
Though Josey and David had been rocking out in the garage for years, it wasn’t until Matt joined on bass that the sound truly came together. His addition rounded out the trio, giving their music a new depth and intensity. Inspired by their combined energy, the band officially formed and began performing live, bringing their raw, edgy rock to local venues and making their first mark on the Midwest scene.
2023
Finding Their Sound
The band quickly picked up momentum, discovering that their collaborative energy electrified the original tunes they were writing. What began as emulating their favorite classic and modern rock acts evolved into a high-energy original sound that defined MAES. Their performances were becoming more dynamic, and the chemistry between Josey, David, and Matt was undeniable, earning them a growing fanbase in the Midwest rock community.

Crafting The Deceiver
This year marked a major turning point as the band poured their energy into their first album. The Deceiver began to take shape as their sound matured, blending fierce guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and driving bass lines. The incredible response from fans at shows and online further fueled their fire, confirming that MAES’ raw, edgy rock was resonating beyond the local scene.

Debut Release and Rising Momentum
The Deceiver was self-published, showcasing Josey and David’s lyrics and production skills combined with Matt’s seamless, driving rhythms. The debut album captured the band’s energy and originality, demonstrating why these three keep audiences hopping at every live show. With a growing fanbase and a sound that bridges classic and modern rock, MAES is ready to take their Midwest roots to a broader stage.
